Ollie's Fresh Bircher Muesli with Mixed Berries & True Natural Goodness Organic Shelled Hempseed

23/9/2020

This recipe is a perfect example of food-combining: it provides essential fats from the hempseed, complex carbohydrates and fibre from the oat flakes, and protein from the coconut yoghurt.

This provides fuel for your body, giving you more energy over a longer period of time until your next meal. Keep covered in a refrigerator for 3 days.

It’s a good source of protein, dietary fibre, essential fats, and vitamin C. It’s also low GL.

Serves 6 or more (1 cup amount for small child).

Vegetarian and vegan if the honey is omitted (refined sugar, dairy and nut free). Contains gluten.

Ingredients:

450g True Natural Goodness Ballybrado Oat Flakes (use True
Natural Goodness Brown Rice, Quinoa, Millet Flakes or Gluten Free Oat Flakes if you prefer gluten-free grains).
600ml freshly juiced Irish apple juice
2 teaspoons True Natural Goodness Organic Ground Ceylon Cinnamon
260g grated pear
260g grated apple
260g coconut yogurt (you can use natural yoghurt if you prefer).
Juice of 1 lemon
300g mixed berries (Irish strawberries, raspberries, or blueberries)
1 tablespoon True Natural Goodness Irish Honey or date syrup (optional)
1/4 teaspoon True Natural Goodness Organic Turmeric powder (optional)
2 tablespoons True Natural Goodness Organic Shelled Hemp Seeds

Method:

Place the oat flakes in a large bowl or airtight container. Mix in the apple juice and cinnamon.

Add the grated pear, apple, yogurt, and lemon juice, and mix well, until all the oats are saturated and there is no dryness left.

Cover the bowl with cling film or seal the airtight container.

Soak overnight in the refrigerator.

The next morning, spoon into serving bowls. Top with mixed berries, drizzle with honey, and add a scattering of shelled hemp seed on top.

This will keep for three days in the refrigerator in an airtight container.
