Mighty Marathon Super Dates

Remember Marathon bars, aka Snickers? Well, whether you’re planning a marathon yourself - or not - we think you might enjoy these delicious little mouthfuls of naturally sweetened protein and energy.
 
Ingredients
 
4 heaped tablespoons (130 grams) crunchy peanut butter
1 level teaspoon turmeric
¼ level teaspoon sea salt
20-24 Medjool dates
1 teaspoon cacao powder

Method:

  1. Mix together peanut butter, turmeric and salt. Scoop into a little piping bag.
  2. Using a small knife, carefully make a slit in each date and remove stone.
  3. Pipe a little peanut mixture into each date, dust with cacao powder.
  4. Will keep for 1 month in air-tight container.
 
Maggie’s Tip
A variation on above recipe:
20 Medjool dates
100 grams Crozier blue cheese or other blue cheese
1 tablespoons crème fraiche
 
  1. Using a small knife, carefully make a slit in each date and remove stone.
  2. Stuff dates with the cheese mixture. The dates can be prepared a day ahead. Bring to room temperature or warm slightly before serving.
