Eating good healthy food (fruit and vegetables, grains, nuts and seeds, local fish and meats, dairy, eggs and organic food) is a necessity not a luxury but often people say, ‘I am trying to watch my spending, it costs too much.’ Well, that doesn’t have to be the case.

1. Shop at your local independent health food store.
Get to know your local independent health food store and always enquire about deals and bargains of the week. Also buy long life foods like grains or seeds in bulk from independent health food stores if you have the adequate space to store them. Again, discounts may be on offer for buying whole foods in bulk. Most independent health food stores and grocers have loyalty cards, use them.

Recent decades have witnessed a steep rise in chronic pain and inflammatory disorders, with an estimated 1 in 5 people in the UK now suffering. As a result, the use of anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving medication has sky-rocketed in an attempt to manage the symptoms.
No-one who has experienced chronic joint pain, a migraine or an acute injury needs to be told how pain feels or how debilitating it can be, but the underlying mechanisms that create or relieve pain are more complicated.
Although food and fitness might be the last thing you would think of as contributing to joint pain, arthritis and pain in general, it turns out they may not only be a viable way to relieve pain but be the cause of symptoms in the first place!

Stress/Anxiety is often seen as a state of mind but it is all too physical too. The truth is that it is both the minds and bodies natural reaction to the ‘stress’ of a perceived or real threat /danger.  Stress is often seen as a pressure exerted from an external  source -  a work deadline, a sick child, a bill to paid etc.  or a pressure we bring to bear upon ourselves by overextending ourselves or biting off more than we can chew and yes there is a benefit in easing up, but stress is not abstract it is a fundamental part of the workings of the human machine – stress and all its responses including anxiety, panic , insomnia appetite changes  are  the consequence of our  inherent  ‘Fight or Flight' response – we evolved with this mechanism to pre-emptively releases hormones such as adrenaline and corticosteroids so that if the rustle behind us turns out to be a tiger we have enough of a surge to punch it on the nose or have it on our toe’s.
The two best natural survival responses - get it out of the way or get the hell out of its way.  But now in the modern world how do you punch away or run off excess hormones when its only somebody in your parking space or the thousandth menu in the letter box this week – we still get the hit of hormones pushing all our anger and go buttons but we have no way to use it up. We carry it to the next pushed button and each pushed button in a given day has more biochemical impact.
